National Celiac Disease Awareness Month
Celiac disease
is an inherited condition affecting more than 3 million Americans. They can't eat gluten, which is found in wheat, rye, barley, and oats. The small intestine cannot absorb nutrients from these foods, and this leads to malnutrition and other complications.
The treatment is to avoid gluten altogether. However, standard gluten-free diets are low in fiber, and can cause constipation.
If you suffer from celiac disease, consider a
