Konsyl's Fiber Recipe Winners!

Konsyl's fiber recipe winners are in!  John’s Spread the Word, high fiber spread, won first prize!  He received a $100 gift certificate to Williams-Sonoma® and a free canister of Konsyl Original.  Our two runner ups, with Fiber Bars and Thin Crust Pizza Dough, both had fantastic recipes and each won a free canister of Konsyl Original!  You can find their recipes below as well as in our recipe section on the site.

Spread the Word (Konsyl Spread) by John from MN

In a blender or food processor, mix (pulse) at medium speed for just a minute or so:

1/2 cup unsalted almonds
1/4 cup toasted sesame seeds
1/4 cup gold raisins
2 tbsp. honey
2 tbsp. water
2 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
4 tbsp. Konsyl

This makes a fantastic high-fiber spread for muffins, toast, bagels, etc. Also try it with jam or jelly for a fantastic K&J sandwich!

Thin Crust Pizza Dough (1 large 24" round or 2 smaller rounds) by Artha from CO

Use a high gluten/high 12-14% protein flour: King Arthur/Sir Lancelot 14% protein
3/4 cup warm water (if needed add 1/4 cup when kneading dough)
1 TBSP olive oil
1-1/2 tsp active dry yeast
1-1/2 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt

Mix together all ingredients until yeast is completely dissolved.

Sift together:

1-1/2 cups flour (see type above)
1-1/2 cups Original KONSYL or KONSYL Easy Mix

Using a mixer (with dough hook) combine flour and wet mixture (gradually) 3-4 minutes; until it forms a stiff dough ball. Do not over mix. Place dough in a bowl and cover tightly with saran wrap. Refrigerate for 24hrs.

Remove bowl of dough from refrigerator and sit out for at least 1-2 hours before rolling.
Roll out dough very thin and place onto flour dusted pizza pan.
Prick dough several times to prevent air bubbles.
Preheat 475 oven and place pan on lowest rack for 3-4 minutes to pre-cook.
Remove from oven and top with sauce, cheese, and toppings.  Return to oven and bake for 10-15 minutes until desired crispness.

Fiber bars

1 box brown sugar
1 1/2 sticks low fat margarine
3 eggs
2 TBSP Konsyl
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup of your favorite nuts
3 cups wheat flour
1/2 tsp less salt
2 1/2 tsp baking powder

Pour melted margarine over brown sugar. 
Add beaten eggs and 1 tsp vanilla.

Sift together flour, salt & baking powder. 
Add to sugar & egg mixture.

Fold in Konsyl & nuts

Bake at 325 degrees for 30 minutes or until inserted toothpick comes out clean
