You can reduce your risk for developing colorectal cancer by eating properly (which means adding high-fiber foods to your diet), exercising and maintaining a healthy weight.  Some studies show that a high-fiber diet rich in fruits, vegetables, nuts, beans and whole grains can help prevent colorectal cancer.  If you cannot get enough fiber from whole foods, try a supplement, like Konsyl Original.

Change up your menus and meals. Add dark, leafy greens, like spinach, to salads. Eat fresh fruit for a snack instead of cookies. For beverages, drink calcium-rich foods like low-fat or skim milk, and avoid or limit alcohol beverages. The Prevent Cancer Foundation suggests limiting red meat and avoiding lunchmeats and other processed meats. The foundation has some great recipe ideas to help keep your diet interesting and healthy.

Besides meeting daily fiber needs, the foundation recommends that you be physically active, exercise regularly and maintain a healthy weight. And, of course, don’t smoke.
