Summertime, And The Eating Is Easy
With the abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables in the summer months, healthy eating should be easy. High-fiber foods can help you lose weight. And what could be more welcome than that during swimsuit season?
Fruits and vegetables contain fiber, which fill you up faster so you eat less.
So, how much fiber do you need every day? The Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommends 14 grams per 1,000 calories consumed. That means, if you eat 2,000 calories, you'll need 28 grams a day. See this chart to compare the fiber and calorie content of fruits, vegetables and whole grains.
When you are away from home on vacation or business, sometimes you can't consume enough fiber from the food you eat. In that case, consider a supplement like KONSYL. It is available in travel-size packages and capsules.
WebMD suggests a summertime diet that includes:
- Tomatoes and Peppers for Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and Lycopene
- Yogurt for Calcium and Protein
- Protein - and Fiber-Packed Beans
- Water
