Re-set Your New Year’s Resolutions To Be Healthy Healthy Habits

Be truthful: How are you doing with your pledge to live healthier in 2012? If the answer is "not so great," don't feel bad. It can take 45 to 60 days for new habits to become part of your permanent routine. Renew your promise to follow healthy eating and exercise habits this year. Here are 10 ideas for being more active and eating better.

1. Take the stairs instead of the elevator.
2. At the shopping mall or your office, park far from the entrance.
3. Walk 30 minutes a day. Start the day with a stroll, or go for one at lunchtime.
4. Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables to help meet your target for fiber (recommended to be 25 to 35 grams a day). Take a fiber supplement to get that extra boost.
5. Get 8 hours of sleep, every day, even on weekends.
6. Enjoy some moments of peace and quiet. Turn off the TV, computer and put down the cell phone.
7. Try new healthy recipes.
8. Eat breakfast every day.
9. Drink tea or water instead of soft drinks. Try green tea, bottled water or plain tap water.
10. This is a leap year, so you have one extra day this month to practice your new healthy habits!
